Getting error ’hal.dll’ missing when installing Windows XP on Mac OS X leopard?

I wanted to install windows XP on Mac system 10.5 leopard; I have copied all the setup files from CD onto to the new partition. But on rebooting the system, an error as “hal.dll” is missing or corrupt is generated. I don’t know if I have done something wrong, so can anybody provide me with the required information of installing. Also what could happen if the problem is not resolved?

First of all you should check that the CD is not corrupted, provided this is fulfilled continue with the process.

• Find the list of current hardware
• Verify OSX86 hardware compatibility list(HCL) to ensure that it matches with computer’s hardware
• Reboot the system by insert iPC 10.5.6 DVD
• Select language and continue with the process
• From utilities select disk utility, then choose hard drive from left side and click on partition
• In volume scheme select 1 partition, specify a name for it with file format Mac OS Extended (journaled) and then apply is clicked and get it confirmed by clicking partition.
• When partition completed close disk utility
• The newly created partition is then chosen as install location and then follow the instructions specified, after booting both OS is found installed and working properly.

However, you need to format hard drive first and restore data with OS X data recovery.
