Error Message in PhotoShop CS3 ?

It’s been a long time that I have been working on Adobe PhotoShop CS3. These days when I am trying to get access to a file, the PhotoShop is giving me an error that the file is not compatible with the version of PhotoShop installed. In fact I had opened the file yesterday only.

Can anybody tell me why it is giving me such an error message and how can I open the file? The size of the PSD file is 250 MB. It was created on 25th June, 2009 and was modified yesterday.

When the PSD files get damaged or corrupted, such type of error messages like the one you mentioned is often displayed. When the file is damaged, the error message occurs and you are then not allowed to get access to that file. The main reason for the damaged PSD file is due to the virus attack or due to some hardware errors in your system.

There are two options available to you in order to access to the damaged PSD file. The first method is to opt for any PhotoShop Repair software and the second is to open the file in ImageReady. If you can afford the repair software then fine and good otherwise opening the file through ImageReady is the only way to access to the damaged file.

First open the PSD file in ImageReady and then move to PhotoShop and without saving or doing any modification in the file, close the file. After that go to the file menu and then open the recent file log and from there open the PSD file. By doing so, you will be able to get access to the damaged file without any kind of repair software.
